The Importance of Cleaning
Perhaps the most important thing you can remember is to clean your coffee machine daily. It will make a difference to the overall quality of your espresso more than anything else. You will find all you need to know below.
Cleaning your Seals
DAILY CLEAN Step 1 - Clean underside of group head with stiff brush.
Step 2 - Put blank basket into the portafilter and flush out any grounds. Step 3 - Remove portafilter with blank and dispose of any ground. Step 4 - Repeat as many times as required.

Cleaning your Portafilters
DAILY CLEAN Step 1 - Remove the basket from the portafilter. Step 2 - Clean basket mesh with stiff brush. Step 3 - Soak portafilter (not the handle) in the solution - 6g of Cafiza with 1 litre warm water for up to 15 minutes. Step 4 - Rinse portafilter and basket with fresh clean water. Step 5 - Fit basket into portafilter and flush.
Backflushing
DAILY CLEAN To avoid taints (dirty, earthy flavours) in espresso we have to complete backflushing with chemicals every day. Step 1 - Place 1 scoop of Cafiza powder in blank basket. Step 2 - Connect to grouphead and flush for 10 seconds then stop. Repeat 4 times. Step 3 - Disconnect portafilter and empty solution. Step 4 - Flush grouphead and rinse portafilter. Step 5 - Connect portafilter to grouphead (without chemicals) and flush for 10 seconds then stop. Disconnect and discard water. Step 6 - Repeat step 5 a minimum of 4 times until water in the blank is clear.

Cleaning your Steam Arms
DAILY CLEAN Step 1 - Purge before and after use each time. Wipe after each use with a dedicated cloth. Step 2 - Heat a jug of fresh cold water to soften any stubborn milk residue. Step 3 - NEVER leave steam wand immersed in any solution as this can contaminate the boiler.
Cleaning Your Grinder
GRINDER DAILY Remove and empty knock out drawer. Wash with warm soapy water and dry using paper towel. Step 1 - Close gate & grind off beans. Switch grinder off at the socket. Step 2 - Remove hopper and put beans into an airtight container. Step 3 - Wash hopper and lid daily in warm soapy water and rinse until clean. Step 4 - Dry hopper and lid fully using paper towel, leave it to air dry over night. Reassemble in the morning.
